W Washington Ave, Yakima, WA, US

Tag your it? Can you find the tag? Saw this TAG and thought what a fun place to hide a tag. So I placed tag 290 under this tag.

Hint look for two small pieces of concrete they will be hiding the tag from view. Can you snag this tag?

See you at GCF18.

cron publish 1 year 1 month ago 012 - Darrington, Washington

Main St, Darrington, WA, US

Located in Darrington, Washington. Originally named Barrington, but a mistake by the US Postal Department reading the B as a D lead to the name of Darrington. In addition Bob Barker, the famous game show host was born in Darrington.

Southern bench. Attached with a magnet. Please remove the magnet too.

Haz-Matt24 check_circle 1 year 1 month ago 400 - Hadrosaurus Dinosaur - The first nearly complete dinosaur discov

Maple Ave, Haddonfield, NJ, US

I’ve been watching the map for weeks now since all the other tags on the area were gone. Had my notifications turned on to let me know when one got published and saw this thing pop up early this morning. It’s only about 5 miles from home so I had to go to for it. Used the clues to find it quickly today. So glad that I was able to grab one of these before heading to GCF in a couple weeks.

cron publish 1 year 1 month ago 400 - Hadrosaurus Dinosaur - The first nearly complete dinosaur discov

Maple Ave, Haddonfield, NJ, US

In the summer of 1858, Victorian gentleman and fossil hobbyist William Parker Foulke was vacationing in Haddonfield, New Jersey, when he heard that twenty years previous, workers had found gigantic bones in a local marl pit. Foulke spent the the late summer and fall directing a crew of hired diggers shin deep in gray slime. Eventually he found the bones of an animal larger than an elephant with structural features of both a lizard and a bird.

Foulke had discovered the first nearly-complete skeleton of a dinosaur anywhere in the world -- an event that would rock the scientific community and forever change our view of natural history.

Today, located where a tidy suburban street dead ends against deep woods, the historic site is marked with a commemorative stone (see pict) and a tiny landscaped park. Just beyond the stone the ground drops away into the steep ravine where the bones of Hadrosaurus foulkii were originally excavated on the eve of the Civil War. The hide is pictured below.

The full size Hadrosaurus (pictured) is commemorated in downtown Haddonfield NJ about a mile away.

avroair publish 1 year 1 month ago 049 - Nantes - Jules Verne at Geocoinfest Europe

Rue de Misery, Nantes, Pays de la Loire, FR

Nantes is hosting the European Geocoinfest, so this tag has been placed here.

Nantes is famous as the city of Jules Verne.

At these coordinates near the Jules Verne Museum you will find two statues, a young Jules Verne and one of his most famous characters; Captain Nemo!

Search in the direction that Nemo is looking. You will find the tag at the top of a barrier, hidden under some ivy. See spoiler photo. X marks the spot!

This is my last SnagtheTag and I have saved this one for hiding it at Geocoinfest Europe in France and on the island of Nantes. I will be there from 12th to 16th of september. I have looked via google for a beautiful spot and found one. This spot at the coordinates you find the metal stairway circling upstairs in front of the boutiques. Herefore you have the picture. Look at the right tree you see in the picture.

avroair publish 1 year 1 month ago 088 - Nantes - Opera at Geocoinfest Europe

Rue Gresset, Nantes, Pays de la Loire, FR

Nantes is hosting the European Geocoinfest, so this tag has been placed here. It is in a nice spot near an Opera House.

The Théâtre Graslin is a theatre and opera house in the city of Nantes in France. Created in a new district of the city in the late 18th Century by the local architect Mathurin Crucy and named after the owner of the land, Jean-Louis Graslin. Built in the Italian style, the auditorium holds 823 people. Inaugurated on 23 March 1788 it quickly became a major opera house for the city.

The tag is hidden in a plant pot in the plaza in front of the Opera House. It's under a plant, but make sure you have the right pot! See spoiler photos of GZ and tag hiding place. X marks the spot.

Nice drive up Hwy 20 to grab this tag. Decided not to do the trek, but the mountains and gorge were scenic. Had to drive to Newhalem to get reception to log this. 😎 Thank you for the tag and hide. Looking forward to going to Geocoinfest18!

cron publish 1 year 1 month ago 350 - Sourdough Mountain Trailhead

Sourdough Mountain Trail, Rockport, WA, US

This tag has been on an adventure to the Sourdough Mountain Lookout high in the North Cascades! The original cupola cabin was built on this site by Glee Davis in 1915. The current lookout building was constructed in 1933. Bush Osborne chose this spot to test his fire locating device. The Osborne Firefinder soon became standard equipment in lookouts. If you can tackle the vertical mile of elevation gain, you will be treated to amazing 360 degree views. After visiting the top, I brought the tag back down. It is hidden at the base of the trailhead sign (right side under a rock) in Diablo waiting to be found. If you have time, you can follow the trail a short distance to a bridge over Sourdough Creek and sample a taste of this steep trail.

cron publish 1 year 1 month ago 268 - The Jenkins Estate

The Jenkins Estate is a 68-acre park. There are historic buildings, hiking trails, beautiful gardens, a day camp, and a playground. There are around 50 weddings held here each year. The tag is outside of the fence, so it is available 24/7. Look at the base of a bush ehind the sign.

cron publish 1 year 1 month ago 304 - Pearl Harbor Memorial Park

Maple St, Missionhill Acres, Mission, KS, US

Location

A little known piece of history sits on an unassuming corner in Mission, KS. Here a piece of the USS Arizona is enshrined to honor and remember the souls lost that infamous day in 1941. The USS Arizona, a Battleship, was sunk on December 7th 1941 during a surprise attack by the Japanese fleet killing 1,177 American servicemen. This park was dedicated on V-J Day (Victory over Japan) in 2004 and was attended by local members of the Pearl Harbor survivors group.

Hide

Awesome! I just missed out on one of these a couple weeks ago, glad I got a chance at another one hidden relatively close to home. I came to the area after work on a drizzly evening to find a few caches, too, making the hour drive from work more worth it. On August 19, 2018 Ms. Jules hosted an Event which was kind of a small coin expo or show and tell. Many of the local cacher came and share their beauties. So since this snag the tag is for Coinfest 2018 and the celebration of geocoins, I decided to place this as a little tribute to such an event.

cron publish 1 year 1 month ago 312 - Frenchtown - The Prince’s Cabin

Old Hwy 12, Walla Walla, WA, US

The Prince’s cabin is thought to be the oldest standing cabin in the state of Washington. It originally stood at a Cayuse wintering place just upstream of Marcus and Narcissa Whitman’s Presbyterian mission, two miles east of the Frenchtown Historical Site. It is referred to in a letter from Narcissa Whitman in January 1844. It is said to have been abandoned in 1847.

The property was purchased in 1990, they recognized the cabin as a fur trade relic and began the process of researching its origins and construction. In 2013 the widowed wife donated the cabin to the Frenchtown Historical Foundation, to be moved, restored, and interpreted at the historical site.

The tag you are searching for is NOT at the historical cabin, but can be found at the southern most corner of the interpretive shelter, where the coordinates will lead you. It can be found in the bottom most dovetail joint, held in place with a small white tack so the wind doesn’t blow it out.

Go Snag a Tag, learn a little more history, and we’ll see you at GCF2018 very shortly!

Portola Ave, Palm Desert, CA, US location_on N 33 41.976, W 116 22.550

I love visiting this zoo! I especially like to be here when it is feeding time for the giraffes. They come right up to the fence and eat carrots out of your hand. Ride a camel, have butterflies land on you, ride the carousel, or find this tag! You can find this tag even when the zoo is closed because it is outside of the wall. Hidden under a rock by a light fixture in the ground.
